READING STRATEGIES II

Other strategies that you can use especially when reading long or difficult texts are:

Read the first and the last paragraph.

Read the first sentence of each paragraph.

Create a map of related ideas to understand the relationships between words and ideas in the text.

Write short summaries of the reading texts.

Use strategies to understand the meaning of unknown words

 

Task A

Revise these vocabulary strategies, then watch the following Power Point presentation and try to guess the meaning of the words you do not understand. Take a note of them and check the meaning in a dictionary before reading the presentation a second time.
