ABOUT THE SONGS:

This compilation includes favourite all time romantic songs: "As times goes by" is the famous soundtrack of "Casablanca", the song that Sam plays again for Ingrid Bergman and Humprey Boggart , "Summertime . was composed by the American Gershwin and belongs to an opera set in the South in slave times.

"I want to be loved by you" was originally recorded by Marilyn Monroe.

ABOUT THE SINGERS:

Casuality has played a part in the choosing of the versions, but the result is refreshingly unorthodox . Many of the singers are well know dead people like Armstrong and Elvis; but others, like Snead O’Connor, are still in their twenties, together with Peter Gabriel and Brian Ferry, they belong to the pop-rock era but have paid tribute to their elder recording their own versions . La Lupe is a Mexican old singer who is the interpreter of many of Almodovar’s favourites, do you remember "Teatro" from "Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios?" . Her English pronunciation may be doubtful but not the vitality of her interpretation .

ABOUT THE WORKSHEETS

Jean Stevenson at her Pedagogical Concert for Granada Greta Jornadas in 1995 first inspired me to put together several all time songs with their worksheets. In fact, "As times goes by" and "Smoke gets into your eyes" worksheets have been copied from the hand outs she provided there. Some of the "treatments" she applied to other songs I have applied here to different songs. "Wonderful world" Tasksheet comes from Maite Roura.The phonetical trnscription of "Unchained Melody" was made by Carlos Juarez.
